![]() It houses a Hawaiian-themed musical show "hosted" by four lifelike macaws whose plumage matches their implied countries of origin. The attraction opened in an era when all things Polynesian were popular and was an immediate hit. Since computers have played a central role in the attraction since its inception, Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room was also Disneyland's first fully air-conditioned building. A commercial kitchen, presently unused and out of sight of guests once served the defunct Tahitian Terrace and would have served the Tiki Room as well. Testaments to the original design may be seen in the restrooms located on the lanai just outside the entrance to the show itself as well as the central "Magic Fountain", originally intended to be a coffee bar. The show was originally going to be a restaurant featuring Audio-Animatronic birds serenading guests as they ate and drank. The attraction was actually, at first, separated from Disneyland in the fact that Walt Disney personally owned it himself through his own company, WED Enterprises, instead of the rest of Disneyland, which was, and still is, owned by the Walt Disney Company (then Walt Disney Productions). The attraction's first commercial sponsor was United Airlines but sponsorship soon passed over to Hawaii's Dole Food Company who remains the sponsor to the present day. The attraction reverted back to the original Disneyland version of the show on August 15, 2011, changing its name to the current “Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room. The attraction opened on Jand was the first attraction to feature Audio-Animatronics, a WED Enterprises patented invention. So in 1998, the Enchanted Tiki Room (Under New Management) made its debut, with Iago (from Aladdin) and Zazu (from The Lion King) adding new life, humor, and song to the classic show. Thus, the notion of updating the show was born, and it didn’t take long to realize that there were two famous feathered friends who might be able to lend a hand, er, wing. Ideas for a new attraction were kicked around, but after some consideration it was decided that the Tiki Room was too integral to the Magic Kingdom’s history to be removed. During the 90s, it was becoming evident that the Enchanted Tiki Room was becoming somewhat dated. In an amazing example of Disney’s attention to detail, figures of Asian Water Buffalos were placed there so that the structure would look equally at home in both Adventureland and Frontierland. The rooftop of the Tiki Room building is also visible from Frontierland. ![]() There are a total of 88 singing birds throughout the theater.Jose, Michael, Fritz, and Pierre were the original hosts of this show, which opened in Disneyland in 1963.Rock ‘n Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith. For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration.Under the Sea: Voyage of the Little Mermaid.Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover (TTA).Under the Sea: Journey of the Little Mermaid. The Barnstormer Starring the Great Goofini.
